ABOUT ME

PP’s research focuses on the design, synthesis, and therapeutic application of mono- and bimetallic Ru(II)/Ir(III)/Re(I) complexes for Chemodynamic and Photodynamic cancer therapy. Over 13 years of independent research, he has developed target-specific metallodrugs that integrate redox catalysis, photochemistry, and molecular targeting. His TNBC-focused studies have produced complexes with tumor-selective redox activation, ROS-mediated cytotoxicity, high cytoselectivity over non-cancerous cells, and sustained activity under hypoxic conditions, offering promising alternatives to platinum-based chemotherapy. His current work explores mitochondria-targeting Ir(III)/Re(I) cyclometalated photo-theranostic complexes that combine catalytic ROS generation with apoptosis signalling. These systems exhibit high phototoxicity indices (>100), enabling precision-guided multimodal therapy and imaging. He is also advancing bionanomaterial-assisted and artificial metalloenzyme-mediated strategies for selective intracellular delivery of organometallic agents. His contributions are recognized through an Indian patent and over 100 publications in leading international journals (ACS, RSC, Wiley and Elsevier). He has been associated with several nationally funded research projects, including DST-SERB (Young Scientist), SERB-EMR, ICMR, ANRF-CRG, and CSIR grants.
